From our entertaining and knowledge-enhancing Portuguese classes you will discover the langauge is much more than the language of the Carnaval and Samba. With approximately 175 million native speakers, Portuguese is one of the most widely-spoken languages in the world. It is second (after Spanish) as the most spoken Romance language, with an estimated 150 million Portuguese-speaking people living in Brazil, and about 10 million in Portugal.
Our Portuguese lessons provide an introduction to contemporary spoken and written Portuguese. The main objective is for students to develop the basics of everyday communication and communication skills in Portuguese. Our Portuguese courses make use of all four basic language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students are able to satisfy basic aural and oral communication needs, initiate and sustain simple conversations, understand simple texts and write simple original sentences. Learning takes place with reference to everyday situations.
Levels
Brazilian Portuguese Beginners Level 1
Designed for absolute beginners, this course is a perfect introduction to the language, designed to be as practical as possible so is ideal for travellers.

Food: Markets, Shopping, Restaurants
Family And Friends: Identifying and describing, Professions, Nationalities
Recreation: Sport, Hobbies, Interests, Asking directions
Routine Activities: The time, Weather etc
Brazilian Portuguese Beginners Level 2
Designed as a follow on from Level 1, classes will be using a communicative approach. The emphasis will be on speaking and listening while building vocabulary in a dynamic way. The students will improve their grammar skills and build up confidence to develop their conversation skills. A minimum of 10 hours of prior study is required.
Brazilian Portuguese Intermediate
Designed as a follow on from Level 2, classes will build upon previously developed skills in speaking, listening and writing. Students will be able to communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters. A minimum of 18 hours prior study is required.
